Edges and corners add aa pleasing component to the creation and design of your soap bar. Styles of Edges There are four styles of edges. First, the square or straight-cut edge, slight or lightly rubbed edge, full round edge, and a beveled edge. Styles of Corners There are four styles of corners. First, the square or straight-cut corner, slight or lightly rubbed corner, full round corner, and a beveled corner. It is possible to style your soap bar using different combinations of edges and corners, or use the same combination of edges and corners. The style of edges and corners does two things: (1) effects the feel of the bar and also (2) the appearance of the bar. Whatever the choice of style, Masterline will always recommend having slightly rounded surface edges and corners to reduce air bubbles and sometimes pockets of air that form along the inside the silicone mold. The slightly rounded edges break the surface tension in the corners when your soap formula is being poured. We suggest having a flat top surface with raised (embossed) or carved (engraved) company name and/or logo/artwork/lettering. Having a curved rounded top surface does make the logo or artwork appear distorted. Adding a border around your soap, especially with an oval shape, is like adding a frame around a picture. You have a choice of a narrow or wider border. In some cases, the border protects the logo and artwork of the soap from wear and tear. Getting the right shape of soap bar, the right size of soap bar, and the right dimensions of your soap require any decisions. If you have any questions, our many years of experience working with clients either at the corporate level or the local level might prove helpful. |
