There are three basic types of soap bars. These types of soap bars could eventually determine the size of your soap bar (length, width and thickness) and the weight of your soap bar expressed in the number of grams or ounces.
Hand, Face, Beauty Soap Bar Type
This type of soap bar is known as the hand, face, beauty soap bar type. It is also known as a 'standard' size. The 'standard' type pertains to its size and weight as well. Other types of soaps will be sized smaller than or larger than the 'standard'. Still other types of bars will have their weight less than and more than the 'standard' hand, face, beauty bar soap.
Bath, Body, Family, Laundry, Industrial, Animal Size Soap Bar Type
These bars are much larger in size and thus will weigh more. And because of the larger size and weight, these bars are known as specialty laundry soap bars, body bars, and family-size shower bars. In some cases, the industrial-sized soap bars are used as animal-care soap bars for pets, and livestock.
Guest, Hotel, Sampler, and Single Use Soap Bar Type
The small soap type category has been growing over the past few years. These sample soap bars are great as hand-outs to promote your business and your brand name products. Make sure to include your business name and logo plus a telephone number and even an address. You can also work with your city's hotels and motels to promote their establishments or your products. These smaller sizes are also used for aromatic bath 'frizzies' which release pretty scents when dissolved in warm bath water. The smaller sizes can be used ideally for lip balms, and small moisturizing hand lotion bars that will solidify.
This type of small bar is usually cast in a 24-cavity silicone mold to produce 24 items in a single casting.
You may want to consider marketing the hand, face, beauty bar soaps as three separate soap bars types. The beauty bar bar is just that -- your finest soap bar -- containing your finest oils, aromas or embediments. In some cases, customers may not wish to use an advertised hand soap as a face soap. Consider, as well, an advertised garden soap used for hand washing only.
